My Story

How I became a compassionate Funeral Celebrant in Exeter

Like many people, my path in life has taken some unexpected turns.

A few years ago, I lost my partner, and that experience changed everything for me. In the midst of grief, I realised how important it is to honour the lives of those we’ve loved, and to have the space to remember them properly. It was through this deeply personal journey that I felt called to support others going through loss.

A Celebrant that Listens

Becoming a celebrant wasn’t something I planned, but it feels like where I’m meant to be.

I’ve had the honour of arranging and speaking at several family funerals – including for both of my parents and my partner – and I know how overwhelming it can all feel. But I also know how powerful and healing it can be to tell someone’s story with care, warmth, and honesty.

Everyone experiences grief differently, and no two farewells are the same. I may not know exactly what you’re going through, but I will meet you with compassion, empathy, and a listening ear. Together, we’ll create a ceremony that truly reflects your loved one – their life, their spirit, and the connection you shared.

Bringing life experience to my work

Before becoming a celebrant, I worked in marketing, communications and IT.

That background has given me strong skills in organisation and project management – and yes, I’m very good with a deadline! More importantly, I bring creativity and heart to every ceremony I write.

I live in Exeter with my Cocker Spaniel, Frida, and my cat, Will. Will was my mum’s cat – he came to live with me after she passed away – and Frida, still just a puppy when my partner died, is my loyal companion. They’ve both been an important part of my healing, and they continue to keep me company (although not always peacefully!) every day.

Here to guide you

If you have lost of someone you love, I’m here to help guide you through.

It will be my privilege to stand alongside you and help you create a ceremony that feels meaningful. Your grief is a reflection of the love you shared – and that love deserves to be remembered.

With love and warmth

Fiona
